Elaine Tusko

Research & business development manager

Elaine has been working for Subcurrent Energy Systems since 2018. She is regarded as one of the best research leaders in the world of nuclear physics. As is often the case with scientists in the exact field, Elaine has a lot of passion for world issues such as the climate and would like to contribute to finding a solution for them. Of course she has plenty of opportunities for this at Subcurrent Energy Systems!

Elaine has many creative (out-of-the-box) ideas, which she carefully assesses, comparing each one with a keen eye for innovation. Yet, she also is an excellent team player and demonstrates exceptional leadership skills. She can make all kinds of people work together very well. In her research work, this is regarded as one of her unique talents: bringing scientists from very different disciplines into line with each other and allowing everyone to work together optimally. She herself has little need for status or appreciation, which makes her open-minded and independent on the one hand, but also somewhat unpredictable and ‘different.’

The fact is, Elaine wants to excel in everything she does and is hyper ambitious. She quickly becomes involved in intellectual challenges, carefully planning her approach and methodically dissecting complex problems. Sometimes finds it difficult to distance herself from matters in which she is involved and then react emotionally unexpectedly when something she does not like. She can react fiercely and sharply even when people do not understand her immediately. She also reacts that way when others disturb her unexpectedly.

Colleagues describe Elaine as a super-fast thinker, open-minded and quick to get excited about all kinds of challenges. At the SES research lab, she is a formidable and fanatical table tennis player during lunch breaks.
